Advance Wars is one of my favorite game series of all time. Like no joke. I might have come in at Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, but ever since I bought all the main series games, even if there weren't many. But I adore them both for the gameplay and for the Commanding Officers you choose to play as.
I do have favorites for each of the five different armies of the first three games. I could go on a long time about how much fun Colin and Kanbei are in their differing concepts, Jess' vehicles and Sami's infantry, Sonja's Fog of War capabilities and Lash' terrain power increases... but my first and only true love for both design and gameplay is the Blue Moon's lazy CO, Grit.
Even as a kid who didn't know about his leanings, Grit just... I dunno. His casual, laid-back demeanor coupled with a confidence and honor that shone through when the time called for them, combined with his focus on indirect combat units and my love of bombarding enemies from afar, as well as that he's a cute guy... he's just the total package for me.

I've pumped a lot of time into these games and I wish I had more people to play with and gush about the series with and talk about how fun the music is I mean listen to Grit's theme JUST LISTEN TO THE CHILL-

So ANYWAY

Jump forward about a decade and a half and Nintendo blindsides us AW fans with the announcement of AW 1+2: Reboot Camp. Lost. My. Shit. Quietly, but lost my shit regardless. I was ecstatic for various reasons, but especially cuz Grit looks SO GOOD. His design is based on his original version with a cowboy hat. So of course in celebration of both Halloween and the (now bumped out) release of the reboot, I have dressed as my favorite CO of all time. So ya best hope I don't use ya for target practice if ya get on my bad side!
