A piece I did for my DnD players this Friday coming, so they can see the spooky castle off in the distance. This is the home of my headless horseman's spirit. In life he was an elven warlock who was suspected of vile deeds and falsely executed. Unfortunately, his archfey patron has a twisted sense eof humor and sent he and his horse (his familiar) back, but as spirits who could only take physical form on the Day of Spirits (Halloween). Instead of lamenting his misery, he decided to turn his one day a year into a sporting event. He lures unsuspecting travelers to enter the woods, which are under his power, and gets them hopelessly lost. Only then do they get to appear before the stone arch and begin his challenge, taking his skull to an altar before crossing the river. So far nobody has succeeded, and all have been sent away dazed, confused, and with half their money gone.
Will my players succeed and get the rewards? We'll see.
