Thank you, I felt incredibly immersed painting this ^^ I should paint some more sometime. Currently am trying to focus on what I find harder to challenge myself rather than paint/details, want to open to wider range of styles so I can draw more easily from my imagination :3
Yep it's funny, I seem to do better at painting than simplicity because I enjoy it more? Painting feels much more leisurely, like a sketch does. Whereas concise lines are quite meticulous to me like making a tapestry but I want to do them too :P Also I'm trying to focus on simplifying, unfortunately you have to know how your subject works before you simplify it else you have to rely heavily on referencing others. That's something that takes years to learn but I don't have that experience, and I want to find my own styles so that doesn't work out so easy lol x3 I suppose just do what feels nicer to you for fun but also challenge yourself else you get too comfortable with your current limits.
Yeah, a large portion is just personal joy. I'd like for simplicity too but sometimes my brain just decides to go ✨details✨ and I can't stop myself then lmao. But yeah pretty accurate, I myself aren't exactly good at cartoony style so I looked up some Disney characters. Unfortunately it still isn't easy but oh well, gotta start somehow am I right.
While I do agree with that, as long as you don't force yourself. Art is most importantly fun, for yourself. If all you do is make everything super difficult for yourself I think it'd be hard to find joy in drawing, it'll just become another chore. Pretty exhausting.
That is unless it's your job and do it for a living, then you should absolutely challenge and try new things.

Yep you got to find a balance between what you enjoy and what you need to learn :3
I'm more a hobbyist, but with pro stuff you can actually just go with what is a "trick" like concept painters do as it's just about making cash at that point. Industry pros often use a ton of tricks to make it easier to emit stuff frequently but such art usually feels kind of randomly/AI generated to me like they collage tons of reference (kind of like a re-painted photobash?) I really rather invest more into the character's preciousness and the feeling of immersion when I'm making something because it's wonderful to have the joy in what you're making, then it starts to fee; magical and special,. So yus focus on what you love and work your pro stuff more efficiently if you're not into it, it's a balance :3

the piece has a bit of a secret story behind it. someone accused me of getting good too fast at art as a beginner and made out i was tracing people (though they'd never link any examples). they challenged me to draw one of my characters (same as in yuvi's enchantress) holding a spoon. but i was very sick at the time. they banned me from their discord server and jeered and implied i wouldn't everdo it. because i wouldn't deliver their demand on time. but with other things i was going through at the time...
so i thought to myself, well i can still do that, as i wanted to prove to myself that i can. and i used the most knowledge i had so far with all determination, as a beginner, to make this piece. while making the piece though, i had a lot going on, just like my ability was ostracized my sexuality and gender was too by people, cancelling me and putting me out for the way i am. so a lot of my emotions around fighting back went into this. though the scene is quite dramatic and colourful, the emotion inside was more the strife to really put the character that they say i couldn't draw again at the focal point, with a spoon in a creative way. "you challenged me like all of my oppressors challenged me, so here, have your spoon" and there you have it in all its glory, a tale of an artist standing up to oppression with pride.

Legend speaks of The One utensil,
The One of incoprehensible might,
The One of inconceivable elegance,
The One of impossible benevolence.
It shall be The One to mend all,
The One to confine the ravenous,
The One to smite the tormenting,
The One to empower the deseving.
Rejoice!
For the cereal of depravity shall be annihilated!
For the milk of wickedness shall be eradicated!
For the soup of viciousness shall be devestated!
The pure hearted shall conquer all dishes of degeneracy,
And they shall grow stronger through their triumph.
Pray for the power of the Spoon to be bestowed upon you,
Beseech it for goodness, for kindness, for decency.
And embrace it for the glory;
For the Glory of the Spoon
