Fictober 2021 23: “This time, do what I say.”
Igor shied back against the wall, the hunchbacked assistant seemed like he was trying to melt into the wall itself. He had never seen the master so angry.
"I cannot believe this! I asked you to do one simple thing!"
"I'm sorry, master! I'm sorry, I just misheard what you had asked for!"
Victor Frankenstein rolled his eyes at the cowering, crooked man before him. "Misheard, MISHEARD? Mishearing is fine, but this makes no sense at all!"
He took a few deep breaths, calming himself before he stepped closer, resting a hand on Igor's shoulder. "Now Igor, this time, I want you to listen very closely."
Igor nodded, whimpering a little, but moving closer now that his master had calmed a bit. This proved to be a mistake as Victor suddenly grabbed hold of his ear, twisting it painfully and pulling him closer.
"This time, do what I say!"
"Y... yes master!" The assistant was writing in pain, holding into his master's wrist to keep his ear from being pulled from the side of his head.
"You are to go into town and bring me a BRAIN!" He snapped, "B-R-A-I-N! Do you have that?!"
"Yes, master! A brain! I will get you a brain! I promise!"
"GOOD! Good..." He took another deep breath, calming himself and using his hands to slick back his frazzled hair. "Now, go do as I asked..."
"Yes! Yes, master! Anything for you, master!" Igor limped his way along the wall and out of the room.
Victor slowly turned and leaned back against the wall. He stared at the massive steam train engine that was taking up the entire floor of his laboratory. Shaking his head, he was actually in awe of how Igor could have gotten the massive thing into the lab to begin with.
He sighed and shrugged, "Ah well. Perhaps I can use the parts to build a generator."
