In April of 2010 (it was either that or very early June), I took a week long pilgrimage road trip to Oregon to visit family. I'd just gotten my new car, and wanted to experience the many mountain and country roads my home state has to offer. Luckily the weather cooperated for most of the trip, and I came back refreshed with a new outlook on life. While I was up there, a good friend of mine offered to take some shots for me, and I think he did a brilliant job with them, including the HDR interpretations. Here's one of the few shots he managed to talk me into being in.
Some people asked if I'd re-upload the picture of myself I had posted here, but instead, I thought it might be good to freshen up my photo with something new.

Oh? What kinda options did you get with the car, if you don't mind my asking, that is?
As far as the color, it does look nice. I'm a fan of the custom orange they made for the 350Z, so I probably would have gone with that. Then again I'm colorblind and orange is one of the few colors I can see, so I'm sorta biased, haha.

I did some numbers!
SC430 = V8, 288-300hp (depends on the year) @ 3,840 lb and 325 ft·lb of torque
370Z = V6, 332hp @ 3,250 lb and 270 ft·lb of torque
SC430 is a bit less power and a bit more weight, but also a but more torque, so the jury's out. I think it'd be a fun quarter mile.

The quarter mile would also depend on things like gear ratios, suspension, AWD, FWD or RWD and even automatic or manual transmission. Sweet ride you have there, though. That is one of the few new cars I would consider buying.
If you're looking for really nice driving roads in Oregon, Highway 6 and 8 in Timber/Forest Grove are great. There are a couple Volvo clubs that I know of (OVT, iPD, TurboBricks) that drive those every once in a while.

Yeah, eh... Not sure... I have an I35 and a Toyota Celica. I might just keep them, but I wouldn't mind mixing the two cars sport and luxury... the best car would probably be a 6spd G35 Sedan which would be cool. but eh. We'll see.
You mod your car at all? Do you go to any meets?

Aaaaactually.....I did have one challenge about 2 weeks ago. A couple of guys my age in some crappy lookin yet loud and muscular pickup challenged me. They pulled slightly ahead but I managed to stay right on em....despite the fact that my half of the road has 500+ potholes and dips all within a 300 ft long stretch of road. Oh yah.....it was also right in the middle of downtown traffic ;_; /responsible.
Nice car, it could use some stance, though ;)
Roadtrips are very great experiences... I just did one where I drove from my hometown in Germany to Finland... The good thing of a Roadtrip is that you have all the freedom your car offers you... you can follow any roads and stop wherever you want to...

A furry artist into tuner cars/imports! Very nice!
Is it the paddle shifter with the rev matching transmission or is it the manual transmission?
The VQ37 is a beastly machine and it sounds rather attractive once you get rid of the stock exhaust and put on a stillen or another aftermarket one.

Very awesome car! The 370s drive so well :D There is a pretty good chance that I will get on as my next car.
Till then, I got my trusty mustang ^.=.^ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2995737/

Probably some kinda law... But I know it'll get to that speed, the question is wether it can go over it if you unlock the limiter. I suspect it's been geared to take advantage of every ounce of usable mph. At 155mph it's probably hovering around 6000rpm, which means it'd have another 1500rpm or so before redline. Somebody's probably tested this.
Nice, I was wanting one of those so bad. Well, I still do but I couldn't stand saving up for one and being car-less in the meantime so I gave up and brought my Corrado back. One day maybe... but they'll probably have a 390z by then or something. :/
How's the visibility? That's the only rough thing I noticed when I sat in it, blind spots galore!

It is a nice 370Z you got there.
But the one thing that kind of irks me... tell your photographer to stop using Automatic mode to capture the photograph. All focus going to the dark areas of the picture makes me believe it was shot with about a 42-105mm (average) lens length with a relatively short aperture. However, speculations can only go so far without EXIF data. But I won't digress...it's a rather nice looking perspective shot. :]

I don't know what the 350z is like for blind spots, but I've never driven a car like this that had really good visibility, so it seems to be par for the course. Tall cars that have lots of visibility don't tend to be low to the ground and sporty, no matter how much they try to be. There's some that balance practicality with sportiness, and this is definitely not one of them.
The 350Z had worse visibility, the silver Z plaque on the rear cross beam generated a ton of glare against the rear window, even worse with tint but needed it on a super black / black Z in Texas. Combining that with the porthole quarter windows, it's been a habit to use only the side rear view mirrors since.
Will you look at that sad sorry whip . . . . im sorry, i would not be . . . .wtf am i saying? there fun as hell to drive, but i cant stand how hard it is to see around them. its almost as fun as an SL65 amg tho . . .no i dont own one, but i have driven them. A few times actually, they hold these merc driving events here near atlantic city and i attend them here and there. I own a moderately underpowered, but very strong running fer her age mercedes 300sd, but my bud has one of the same beasts you have, and there are quite a blast to drive. I hope you have much fun behind that wheel and it keeps performing fer ya a long time. You have quite the car there, i would not trade one fer mine ( i have always wanted one of these old mercs ( mine, now and for the long run :D http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4450728/ ) but i still love to drive my friends when he lets me lol n.n
The TT is an Audi car, which is in a similar price bracket as this one. It's woefully underpowered compared to this, and is mostly luxury oriented and all the things that come with that. In the case of a tesla, there's not much that performs like a tesla, those things have linear, explosive acceleration, though you'd feel a little strange driving it if you're used to your car making any noise or operating like a combustion engine.
Each insurance company calculates insurance in their own way, the smart ones base it on their own database of claim records. They know that the speed of the car or the cylinders don't equate to claim frequency, so they make smart decisions to cover their own asses. A person who drives inexpensive or slower cars can get into a lot of wrecks and cost them a lot more money, and a person with an expensive, fast car can never make a single claim in a 10 year period.
The 370z is superior to the 350z in all ways, so the question does come down to aesthetics. To me, the 370z looks more aggressive in person, more sporty, so while I love the 350, the 370 is the clear choice for me. And if I liked the look of the 350 more, I'd still have to balance that with the tangible superiority of the 370.
Better specs as well, I take it? I mean, I do love the 350 a bit over the 370 (Well, I just love the older vehicle of the two sometimes) but it's all about personal experience really... But I take your word on it. You've already driven the 370 (ofcourse), and you know more and such.. XD
Sorry! I'm rambling XD
But yes, more power, more aggressive exterior... More JDM :3

Considering technical specs.....yes you're right. But there are no major differences between these cars.
Nissan 213 HP / ton__________accel. 0 - 100kph - 6,0 sec
Honda 191 HP / ton__________accel. 0 -100kph - 6,2 sec
What I like best about S2000 is engine. there is no more powerful N.A. engine if you realize that's only 2 Litre displacement. And the sound of that engine is an eargasm.
I dare to say, if you have an experienced driver in S2000, he (or she..whatever) can beat Nissan without difficulties.
I don't doubt about nissan's domination on race track, but imagining challange on road somewhere in Oregon or Washington would be very interesting. And I'm pretty unsure about winner.
370Z is awesome roadster indeed (I find design of 350Z much better though) but in comparison with S2000... s2000 is more amusing to drive imo.
I must also say, that new Honda design progress into futuristic way nowadays is disgusting and looks shitty for me. Nissan seems not to be such affected this way ;)

it all depends on alot more than "the track or "horsepower. O.o
the transfer of the 2k is passive. with 6 gears, the last two not meant for overtaking since they are both within the 0.9 ratio area.
and naturally aspirated it only pushes just north of 160 foot pounds of torque. at 6700 on the tach. pinpoint.
while the 370 (my least favorite of the z family) pushes about 265. at the same spot my mr2 wakes up. 5200 rpm.
the honda 2000 makes up for it by weighing less, at almost 3k with full tank and driver. while the 370 weighs in at 3600. tank and driver.
this doesnt help the 2k though. (in the end both these vehicles are too heavy for my taste) it just does not make up for the amount of power.
on top of this, its body twist is just plain intolerable. id spend money on a skirt for the block, strut tower bars and welded multi point truss IMEDIATELY.
both of these machines accellerate slow, but the 2k does it a bit more slowly, but whether on the track or on the street, its wheelbase provides a smaller stagger option, giving less tire contact and making its ability to save energy in each turn, utterly nill in comparison to the 370.
as always, with the right knowledge and money, either car can be better. but the 370 would take me less money, less time, and less work. bone stock its a slightly more efficient vehicle for "winning" as tekewen puts it.
get some volk gram light 57pro's. 18 by 8 in the front with a +22 offset. and 18 by 9.5 in the rear with a +20 offset. and some yokohama advan AD08's. 215/40/18 front. 255/40/18 rear. which will give a subtle stretch without having to heat up and roll the fender. and a simple tokiko 5 way adjustable coilover set, then leave the z alone.
as for the 2000? get the supercharger option. and the same suspension setup.
personally? both these cars are ugly, but the 2000 is more tolerable in that area than the 370. but neither car fit my own tastes :P
but bottom line is, there is NO one car to win all scenarios. you need the right tools for the right situation.

Hey, thank you for very constructive comment ;) I really appreciate it.
I think you summarized it very well... (I just feel little dumb seeing torque in physical units, you've posted here ..LOL)
Of course everyone has different demands to satisfy its amusement :)
I just had felt I had to nag a little at this...and think about comparison between cars of the same category

too much centrifugal weight, which is more hindering to your acceleration than sitting weight.
those wheels also defanately fly right past the 25lb mark. i gave my honest suggestion. but then again theres also the 5zigen FN01-RC.
most people who want to be fast focus on their engine. i say focus on losing weight ;)

To be honest, I can't take any of your car talk seriousy, and you've done nothing but talk down to me about this. If I wanted to race my car, I'd have bought something else entirely, but considering I can whoop 90% of what's on the road, I have regrets in my purchase from a performance standpoint.
i dont think giving my honest opinion or advice is talking down to anyone. thats not the direction im coming from.
so dont be offended, im not coming in here saying "your car sucks i like H2k better" like some people ;)
pick and choose who you do and dont want to take seriously. the bottom line is that you need to be happy with what you drive.
everyone has their own purposes. which brings back to what i said before, the right tool for the right situation.
my mr2 and rock crawler are two completely different animals, for two completely unrelated situations. and i think thats a good example of what im trying to say :)

I'm pretty happy with my car, and I don't see a reason to compromise looks for a little more performance, (18 inch rims vs 19 inch rims) especially considering the rims are very light and strong. (forged Rays)
Most upgrades in the next year or so will revolve around improving ride stiffness, cornering, and intake/exhaust. If I get bored with it in another 4 years, then I can throw a twin turbo on it and make it my weekend car, then get a more practical everyday car.

Everyone knows you have a tiny penis, judging by how you project your physical insecurities onto other people with recess-quality insinuations. This is basic psychology. Also, if my car is better than yours, and makes your butt hurt, then you can keep it to yourself, because nobody really wants to hear you bitch and moan and act like a child over a comparison of physical possessions.

...See, when looking at great furry art (Tri-X rated, I might add), you can always try to picture the guy as a fat, bald 50+ year old in his mom's basement, intermissioning his drawing with the fapping of a dick he's not laid eyes on for 25 years.
Now I know for a FACT you're Awesome made corporeal.
Frickin' sweet wheels, man.
And on a side note: are you still working on that animated movie? What was it, post-armageddon action-thriller-drama-comedy-porno in Russia?
'Cause I would litteraly KILL to see Kineta in a longer motion picture, not just a lineart GIF where's she doggystyled by Zaush.

Cool. I got a few mods done to mine, I got them listed on my page. These cars are very light on their feet and fantastic at the track. very few cars can match them in terms of performance, looks and handling. Anyone's leaving nasty comments are most likely jealous since they can't afford a car like this. :)
I'm going to end up supercharging mine probably next year. More linear torque curve, same performance as the stage 1 TT kit and half the price. Have fun with the car!

when it comes to Nissan, I still like the Skyline GT-R's (The plain Nissan GT-R is too bulky IMO) more than Fairlady Z's, even tho' both are just as great cars. But for the time being, I'm going to go with my C32 AMG and M5 E34.
I wonder what the retail was for that 370Z where you bought it.
