There was this one painting by Tom Fowler, with a pile of corpse-bits colored a bright red, and that was kind of interesting; so it made me think, hey, what would happen if I used that sort of thing as a really brilliantly colored background to drab grayed-out foreground figures. I also kinda liked the idea of this really strong diagonal.
