Foxes often thrive in more urban environments, where the cleverest can find untold feasts waiting for them if they're willing and brave enough to face the dangers of living so close to humans. Luckily, when two foxes put their heads together to figure out not only the safest times to creep out, but when the fall season brings with it a bounty of tourists to the small town to enjoy the local autumn colors and cool hiking weather, there's a whole season of being able to eat like vulpine kings.
Needless to say, when calorie-conscious customers leave burgers and baskets of fries to be thrown out half-eaten, or juicy morsels of chicken cutlets in buttery white wine sauce to be sniffed out, both foxes enjoy full bellies every day. But Pacato, in particular, ends up indulging so well, it's not long before he's mistaken for a particularly chubby badger.
Best of all, though, is October and November, when Zaxie scouts out every farm that happens to attract visitors with apple orchards and corn stalk mazes. Also, pies.
