"Me thinks how we and great valley folk have worked together, be first step for return to civilization!"
Petrie
Gender: Male
Age: 12
Species: Flyer (Pteranodon)
Affiliation: The Treestar Chasers
Biography:
Petrie sometimes feels his ability to fly might be more of a curse than a blessing, to see the world from a perspective his friends can't, flying above the remnants of a once mighty civilization, now in ruins, has often left him in a state of utter worry. He feels so small and fragile to such a large world, and now even the world itself has fallen to pieces! How can someone as weak as himself expect to survive in the horrors of the Mysterious Beyond!?
These thoughts have often put the poor flyer on the edge of anxiety, fearing the absolute worst of everything, with horrific catastrophizing to the point of believing he's endlessly knocking on death's door every single day. Believing every hour he's survived as a cruel joke to let his guard down only to be mauled to death by a Sharptooth the next second.
Thankfully Petrie eventually met his friends, and together they managed to reach one of the last standing cities in the world, The Great Valley. After surviving in the Mysterious Beyond with his friends, defeating a deadly Sharptooth, and reuniting with his family in a new safe haven, Petrie finally gained the much needed courage to take on the many challenges of life! Along with the friends he's made, who are wiling to help him out with his problems!
Petrie no longer feels as overburdened with his worries as he's once did, and with the newfound confidence of knowing his friends are there by his side, he's gone on to try challenging himself more, and isn't afraid to tag along on any adventure his friends wish to go on.
Skills:
While being the most physically weak out of his friends, Petrie makes up for a lot of his shortcomings by being the only member on the team capable of full on flight! Petrie serves as the team's main scouting and reconnaissance specialist, checking ahead to warn of any potential dangers that may be awaiting his friends, finding potential points of interest, and ensuring the best and safest routes to take.
While being abysmal in a straight up fight, Petrie isn't afraid to partake in combat if needed, mainly serving as a distraction by using his slingshot to provoke his enemies into chasing him, and leading them to traps set up by his friends.
Petrie is also considered one of the smarter members of the Chasers, and frequently ponders about subjects on Philosophy, the universe, and the meaning of life, whenever he's out flying alone.
In this image, Petrie looks out over into the distance of a fallen city, he wonders what life might have been like back during the times of great living.
Notes:
Yay! I've finally completed all members of the Gang 'O' Five! I'm very happy with how this one turned out, as it finally shows the more 'post-apocalyptic' side of this series. I've also updated Petrie's design slightly, giving him eyes similar to his friends, instead of just those 'dots' he has, and reshaping his head to be more Pteranodon like.
In this version, Petrie prefers fish over leaves for food, and also has a slight crush on Ducky.

Very nice! Thanks for giving Petrie more than just a black dot within the whites of his eyes.
Something important, which I learned over the years in different ways, is how one's eyes are a 'Window To The Soul'. Given the nature of this AU series, eyes can really say a lot where words may not be possible to convey a feeling. Particularly with Petrie having the PTSD he has from being hyper aware of the horrors that have resulted from this post-apocalyptic world he was hatched into
***
His crush on Ducky makes sense given how the trauma of being seperated from his family and seeing so much death and destruction in the 'Mysterious Beyond' has resulted in how he now worries about when he will next have to endure seeing a dark world with nobody to give him company beyond his thoughts of dread and hopelessness.
Upon meeting Ducky, I imagine he would be curious as to how she is so peppy and optimistic while living in such misery. Her size is also quite comparable to his. Maybe, going back to the eyes, he would see a 'sparkle' in her blue eyes that makes him wonder if it is possible for him to ever be able to look at himself in a mirror without seeing a child who had to grow up way too early? (This could even be part of the storyline based upon Petrie's talents for pondering the meaning of those things that cross his mind as a result of being in far better conditions after being over-traumatized from his solitude out in The Mysterious Beyond.).
I can already see a scene where Ducky and Petrie, upon settling into their new lives in The Great Valley, find themselves looking beyond the protective walls / mountains that seperate the sanctuary from the dangers of The Mysterious Beyond. They get to talking about what they see when looking towards the sky, down into The Mysterious Beyond, and how it feels being in The Great Valley. Petrie would struggle to share all the horrible thoughts that come to mind about the world around him, but Ducky would pick up on this, put an arm around his shoulders, and share what helped her to not lose hope while seperated from her family. Petrie, struggling with all the fear and trauma inside his heart, would start to cry and Ducky would embrace him, pat his back, and explain how he can overcome his unhappy feelings by allowing himself to better explore them through research in the library while writing poems, stories, and taking a course in Philosophy with her.
With time, Petrie would learn that his trauma can be used more as a tool through the ways that he can manipulate it into useful information to share with his friends and fellow citizens of The Great Valley. He may even become someone who does public speaking and/or writing books that, through the addition of wisdoms gained from his past and what he does with his colleagues, he can inspire more to be like his inspiration, Ducky, to cherish their lives and never stop believing in a day in which a new time of joy and prosperity will return so long as nobody gives up on what has been done, and will continue to be done, to return the world to a far more stable state.
Of course, per his request, Ducky would always be with him during speeches, book signings, etc. Even if out of audience view, he'd always feel better about what he does if Ducky is there to help him feel comfort and positivity through his efforts over delving into derogatory reasons, like doing such works for popularity and profit.
As they reach adulthood / end of the game, I would see Ducky and Petrie, if not a couple, doing many things together to ensure all refugees and citizens of The Great Valley never lose hope that the better tomorrow is only a faithful day away. :)

The abilities you give Petrie certainly line up with his character. I also imagine that his awkward speaking / word usage would earn him a lot of looks coupled with a sense of insecurity for being so 'different'. I do know how, for some children, speech can be messed up as a result of a major life trauma. So, given what you provided, Petrie would be doing the "Me no see," and "Me no baby! Me BIG!" as a result of what he had experienced prior to uniting with the original 5 members and needing a lot of time in the safety in The Great Valley, along with Ducky's support, to not allow himself to fall into a deep depression.

Ok, so here we go with another accuracy critique as requested! First of, he is supposed to be a pteranodon, so his beak should be significantly longer and should curve upwards, not a hook-like bird beak you have portrayed here. The head crest should also be larger as this is a male of the genus as fossils of pteranodon show sexual dimorphism crest sizes between males and females. The wing membrane should also end in a broader, rounder tip instead of a point. Also the wing membrane should attach to the ankle from the fourth finger but I understand the limitations of portraying that in an upright walking humanoid design. Pycnofibres should also be present all over the body. The eyes should also be further back on the head, but it wouldn’t look as cute and wouldn't allow for a helmet! Once again, the feet should be fully on the ground like a human and not walking on toes like that of a dinosaur. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45771059/ This is a great representation of an accurate pteranodon if you need it. Thanks for asking for me to critique your art again!
