Fictober 2021 19: “I feel strange."
Morghanna, the calico cat scientist released a small puff of air, blowing the bright blue hair out of her eyes. She steadied the ray gun in her hands as she took careful aim at the small cup of espresso on the edge of her work table.
She pulled the trigger and the cup was engulfed in a bright green glow. The cup seemed to vibrate, then suddenly surged out in all directions once, twice, three times. The feline stared as the cup of concentrated caffeine was now more the size of a convenience store's extra-large soda.
Setting the gun down on the counter, she rushed over to the cup, which still had a bare hint of a greenish glow around it. Picking it up, she took a long pull of the bitter, slightly tart drink, then let out a soft purr as she felt it slide down her throat, leaving a hint of sweetness on her tongue. Perfect, it was just perfect!
She turned towards a video monitor to contact her co-worker, Victor. She red-maned zebra appeared on screen, black patch covering one eye. "Hey, Morghanna! How'd the test go?"
She held up the huge cup for him to see, giggling a bit. She ignored the fact that it seemed to be vibrating slightly in her hand as she sat it down behind her. "Perfect! It even tasted perfect, not diluted in any way!"
He quirked an eyebrow at her, "Uhm, considering this was a first test of a prototype, do you really think you should have drank any of that?"
She blew a raspberry at him, "Oh please, I know what I'm..." She blinked, placing a hand on her stomach as she felt something bubble and roll inside her belly. She made a bit of a face as for a second it felt like the coffee was about to force its way back up her esophagus.
"You okay, Morghanna? You look a little green around the gills there."
She shook her head, "I feel strange." She blinked a few times, then shook her head, sitting up straighter. Victor figured she must have bumped her camera as the top of her head was no longer in frame.
"Maybe you should head down to the infirmary, get checked out."
The feline made a face at him, frowning, "I'm fine, just jumpy from too much caffeine is all." She tugged at the sleeves of her jumpsuit a little as they had pulled away from her wrists a bit. "Look, I need to get back to work. See you after work at Dream's?"
He laughed a little, smiling, "Alright. I figure Drago will be there keeping an eye out for you again."
She pouted, "Oh, knock it off!" She smacked the disconnect key and flopped down in her chair.
Her eyes widened as her hips barely squeezed between the arms of the chair and the back only came up to the bottom of her shoulder blades. She looked down and saw her jumpsuit shrinking, tightening over her rapidly expanding form. Slowly turning towards her work table, she saw the cup of coffee, now the size of a five gallon bucket suddenly surge into fifty-five gallon drum territory.
"Oh CRAP...."
