A unit train of oil cans makes it way across "High Bridge" at Wilmore, KY. Built in the 1870's this bridge was originally planned to be a massive suspension bridge and suspension towers were constructed. However the Southern Railway decided this was not cost effective (who knew?) and built this cantilever design instead.
When built it was one of the largest bridges in the world. To give you scope the entire bridge is double tracked and only HALF of it is pictured here.

The bridge appears to recieve "as needed" maintenance from the look of it. Some inspector probably found some developing rust in that section and told NS to take care of it.
The deck of the bridge shows alot of this in that many oddball sections have been scrapped and primed for some reason (mainly again to keep away deep rust).
The whole thing needs a good protective coating but thats talking a massive and needless to say expensive project.
