He was kind of a dick in Hakaba no Kitaro, but I loved its style. :1

I'm really glad that they made a mini-series based on his original stories. They were much more like ghost and horror tales. It shows a side of the character with a bit more complexity.

Ahh, yikes. 3 and 4 don't really look too bad, but 5 is pretty terrible. I did like how she looked in Hakaba Kitaro, though. The neat texture filter and colors used were great, made it feel like an old comic, and that opening was so damn catchy! It's too bad I lost the series when moving over to the new computer. :| Did you ever try out the GBA game? It's surprisingly good!

I would love to find the series with some english subs. I've only seen the first episode translated. I have seen how the cat girl appears in the series, and I think it works. Your rendition of Kitaro is awesome <3 When I was in Japan last month, there was an exhibit in Ginza that had a lot of concept art of Gegege no Kitaro, Akuma-kun and a few of his other works. The man was so talented~

I think he's still working on manga projects, unless I'm mistaken.
