Apollo's Kiss - December
"valleys play a gentle game, greeting the coming sun...
somber amber notes uplifting, shadows in the stillnes;
uncertainly he turns an eye, to pin down the moment
Of upwelling within...without, a calming kiss of fire
caresses a solitary soul cold and dull, wheting...sealing
what was wrought assunder, steeling self; For
whatever tomarrow holds for him...for his heart...
Yet in spite of space so stark, today is a new dawn"

I was very fortunate to be accepted as part of the Werewolf Calendar this year, and here is my finished piece! The calendar is now open for orders, please visit the following link for purchasing information:

I wanted this piece to convey how lonely living in an extreme environment can be an an individual. The long, cold, dark nights living in the arctic, without a pack, can be harsh on the heart of such a social creature. The sun's warmth can mean a lot to someone who has been waiting through a long night alone. Seeing that first light peek over the horizon and feeling the sun's warm kiss is like a comforting embrace from a loved one when times are hard. This werewolf has been through hard times, but life is looking up for him. The sun is warming his back, and soon he'll be on the move to find better days.
This digital painting was done without my usual greyscale marker "under painting" ( http://www.furaffinity.net/full/4245662/ ) so that I could preserve the very exact saturated colors. I chose this color scheme from a photo I took from a winter sunrise in the mountains. I may try to do more solid digital painting without marker bases actually!

I've been checking the pictures of the Werewolf calendar and this is one of my favourites if not THE favourite. :D I just adore winter pictures with sunset/sunrise and this is truly a masterpiece of that theme! The little wolf looks so sad yet the sun is giving him/her hope of better tomorrow. :) I really like - no I LOVE - the orange light on the snow and the whole barren yet beautiful athmosphere. I can almost feel how cold it is in there. *Brrrh!*
Damn that looks -ing cold.
beautiful colors, I've seen them like that where I lived before, but unfortunately that was on houses and crap, sunrise isn't nearly as colorful although it does come over the ocean/beach that way.
Regardless, I don't think anything beats sunrises or sunsets on snow. They simply blow you away. Just like this painting here.

Absoluetly gorgeous and hey you actually inspired me to
actually THINK and write something more than
"I love it"
