Admittedly I stretched the definition out for this one. Because otherwise I was stuck on "something with clocks? I don't fuckin' know" and that wasn't jogging much inspiration. Hell, this isn't either, but... XD XD It was at least actually inspired by actual comments and how I felt like reacting to them. Why? Because Capcom puts Ryu and Chun-Li in everything as cameos as if Street Fighter is the only IP that matters to them and this is how they sell themselves out now. They're in Fortnite, they're in mother fucking POWER RANGERS, and now this. Fuck off Capcom! Can't you let me enjoy one fucking thing without stuffing your fucking lame ass Street Fighter characters back in my face??
So for those not quite in the know, I was streaming/recording my playthroughs of Megaman X DiVE for ahh... lets just say for longer than I probably should have bothered? You can catch the full playlilst here, if you're interested at all in seeing what was up with it...

Long story short, it's a game with a lot of promise and potential... that just sort of gets squandered entirely on the back of mobile gaming tropes designed to hamper and degrade your experience, all in the pursuit of infinite money. It's incredibly disappointing. Because if this had been literally anything else, then it probably would have been Fine. But hey, if you can stomach all that better than I can, it's available now on mobile and it's coming to Steam (with controller support, I'd imagine) in another couple months or so?
And to wrap the topic back around, *Because Mobile Gaming*, in order for me to get anywhere in DiVE, I had to increase my "Total Power" rating... an arbitrary system designed explicitly to roadblock you. And increasing that value means unlocking and powering up every character I can so... while I don't expect the US release would have actually seen these additions for a good couple months to a year, it still means that I'd ultimately be expected to obtain Ryu and Chun-Li and actually have to play as them and power them up purely for the sake of getting over the next set of hurdles and... I don't want to fucking do that. I don't want to play as fucking Ryu. Personal Bias, but Fuck Off. This is a MEGAMAN X GAME, Damnit.
....oh, there's also a version of this where I'm snapping a controller in half, since I played/streamed via an emulator on PC so I could play the game with a controller instead of a fucking touch screen, but... being a phone game, this seemed like the more appropriate version to post. :p

I considered that, while writing up some of my rationale... but that was kind of an easter egg? And was cute for the time. And it wasn't X literally becoming Ryu with a hand cannon. They did similar in X2 with the Shoryuken, before kinda moving on into their own original mega-buffs in future installments. It was an interesting nod, and you moved on. It was not dropping out of universe characters in completely arbitrarily to make more sales. It was not a selling point at all. It was just some hidden gem. That's... fine? This... isn't. XD
Considering the *math* that I put in to the cost of flat purchasing a new character? ....It's at least *supposed* to be a selling point. -.-;;
According to my math, for a guaranteed acquisition of the Ultimate Armor X (Command Mission) unlock, assuming you didn't receive it "naturally" from the Gatcha Machine, with it's fucking 0.07% or so Drop Rate... it would cost you $600 worth of Premium Currency. Assuming you had no Premium Currency saved or built up to begin with, from the drip feed they give you over the course of the grind. And it was only available for ONE WEEK, so there was additional FOMO built in to pressure you into making that literally insane expenditure for the shiney new toy you so desperately desired if only to feel the nostalgia for it.
The Ryu and Chun-Li launch, whenever it happens, will undoubtly follow a similar structure... only... they might NOT have the guaranteed buy option built in. So it might cost you even more to obtain them. Assuming they haven't built an event around them that makes them obtainable "for free" assuming you jump through all the right hoops. It's hard to say for now.

That's why one doesn't get worked up over that sort of thing, and just settle with what they can get. If the odds are so low for getting something, then it's not worth stressing over, and if it costs that much money then it's not worth spending on. You just play the game, and if you get it you get it, and if you don't you don't.
yups... but it can still be handled a bit better... and/or sensibly.
This is just... one of those things that doesn't really make any sense, feels entirely forced/mandated, aaaand is just going to look really fucking stupid once it's implemented. I mean, unless you think Ryu or Chun-Li running around like Heavy Weapons Guy is appropriate character themeing? :p
