Took me a while to comment, and I even slept on it. It's just hard to put words to it.

First of all, remarkable work. This is the only depiction of Vaati in his Reborn form that I've seen which looked spot on. This is now my personal, definitive interpretation of those sprites. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen someone draw the Transfigured form, so bonus points for that.

As for the subject matter, in terms of impact.

Oh, Vaati. You poor fool, if only you'd known when to lay down and rest. Death would have been better than what's coming.

It didn't occur to me at first, but when I realized that the eye on his chest isn't merely bloodshot, that it's coloured like the eye of Transfigured and literally cracked - shattered - l knew. He's dying. This is him changing form. Giving way to the demonic spirit when his body couldn't go on.

Incredibly poignant piece. Kudos. You captured this chilling, heart wrenching moment so well.

The sprite's design was already wonderfully simple and perfect, there was no need to add any bells n' whistles. The only thing I coulda done different is the sashes hanging off his spaulders, there's a couple frames of the sprite where you can see the design a little better and I didn't bother to ref it LOL, that's an oopsie.

Speaking of the sprites, there's appox 3 frames during his transition to Transfigured where his ears become batwings like in the manga, which is something I hadn't noticed before. Was tempted to try something a little more gruesome in that regard but also I wanted to maintain a shred of my sanity. ;3;

My poor boy, ablublublububu. That was something else I hadn't remembered--the figurine for Transfigured describes it as being all that's left after his body was shattered, which is a description that just.. makes everything so much worse. Ugh, oogh, urrgh, my heart.
