Introducing: Ariel Prince
"Hatred. It comes in many forms, and from many places. For some, it's an impulsive reaction to what they can't - or refuse - to understand. A means of protecting themselves from their own, glaring inadequacies. For others, it's an emotional, irrational desire for vengeance against those they feel have wronged them, a frantic search for their myopic, selfish interpretation of justice. But I am not so trivial. I harbor no biases. No resentment. No tangible desire for more than I deserve. The Hatred within me comes not from personal grievances, but rather, is a celebration of my fellow beings, the ultimate enlightenment of what we all are. The pain I yearn to cause, the destruction I seek to deliver, it knows no prejudice, no corruption. It is unspoiled. Untainted. Pure. My Hatred...is perfect."
-Ariel Prince's first debut vignette
Yonas Gebreyohannes, better known by his ring name, "The Perfect Hatred" Ariel Prince, is the current World Champion. Prince was approached by the promotion for his intimidating stature and marketable look. Although an amateur musician when initially discovered, Prince's background of youth athletics allowed him to quickly pick up the basics of professional wrestling, where he impressed coaches and agents with his fast learning and explosive style. Eager to make a fast-rising star out of their new prospect, Prince was quickly elevated to the main roster where he made an immediate impact with quick, decisive, dominant wins. While seasoned fans bemoaned the fast-tracking of a rather green performer, Prince continued to improve his in-ring skills with each outing, using the animosity from unwelcoming fans to fuel is desire to improve and silence his doubters, propelling his training and making him one of the hardest working members of the roster.
Prince's character incorporates dark, gothic, and heavy metal aesthetics and themes, aided by his brooding, baritone speaking tone. Although hopeful for his future as a fan favorite, the promotion decided that Prince would make a natural heel from the onset. In contrast with other villainous characters, Prince rarely cheats to win his matches and is not presented as cowardly or conniving. Instead, Prince is presented as an unfeeling, remorseless purveyor of raw power, a trait which Prince has since characterized with his nickname, the Perfect Hatred. According to Prince himself, the character sees himself not as dark or evil, but as the ultimate realist, manifesting his interpretation of the world around him into a persona that sees his dark persona as an enlightened, at times even charitable mindset. He said that the villainous side of his character was also based on his perception of religious leaders, who sell ideology in exchange for a selfish pursuit of power. Despite his usually emotionless demeanor, Prince makes occasional displays of rage in the event of a tenacious or otherwise frustrating opponent.
Prince is extremely protective of the perception of his character and is known for his unique in-ring presence in the pursuit of this goal. Prince sells his opponent's offense not as painful, but annoying, pulling facial expressions that appear less agonized and more irritated or frustrated when attacked. One of Prince's most distinct traits would be his frightening roar in the event of absorbing a significant attack from an opponent. The sound of this roar is meant to elicit feelings from the viewer that the opponent is not making headway with the attack, but rather, a grave mistake, simply infuriating Prince rather than weakening him. This kind of in-ring character work has given Ariel Prince an aura of indestructibility, coupled with his extremely protected win-loss record.
Ariel Prince's move set is based largely in power moves, striking and slamming his opponents with brutal force. Prince displays little to no emotion while doling out his offense, in contrast to similar wrestlers who appear to take pleasure in their opponent's anguish. Although known primarily for power moves, Prince is deceptively agile as well, capable of leaping off of the top rope for aerial maneuvers or even walking along the top rope in an impressive display of balance for a competitor his size.
Prince is the leader of The Anointed, a stable of similarly-themed wrestlers who act as subordinates to Prince.
-Notes-
- Prince has stated that his wrestling persona is an exaggerated version of his personality during his school days, saying "It's a bit silly for adulthood but seemed perfect for theatre."
- Pescatarian.
- Intermediate level bassist in his spare time.
- Capable artist, known for providing/sharing concept sketches of his own character and occasionally his fellow wrestlers.
- Adopted at a young age after being orphaned in his country of origin. His adoptive family are occasionally in attendance for his shows but aren't easily recognized due to being of a different species.
- First out LBGTQ+ World Champion of a major promotion.
- Avid player of basketball and tennis in his youth. Often favored for basketball in particular due to living in a community with children of a smaller species.
- Recently earned his teaching license

May or may not change this guy's name at some point. But since I'm rapidly losing confidence that there's even an audience for this kind of thing (an audience I want, anyway) it might not even matter.

Perhaps although as I described, he'd be pushed pretty quickly despite being green at the time and while I imagine he would quickly pick it up, fans, especially smart marks, would likely deride him for that, especially if he were fast-tracked to the belt like I imagine.
