As someone who moved in the last few years, this is a reasonable financial pre-goal.
Are you looking to buy or to rent when you do relocate? That would make the most difference in what you would need. Renting costs less upfront, but buying usually is less long term assuming you stay where you are going for a while.

We're not sure yet! Renting was what I was looking at, but prices here are not good, it seems better to buy, and possibly buy with the boyfriend if he wants to join. Right now, it's something I'm working towards, and saving up will help with that. But we're still looking at actual options.

good plan, from the buying end definitely make sure you have atleast 20% the value of the house you are looking at, 10% for the min down and the other 10% for fees, things, inspections, etc... it should not take that much but it is good to have incase the roof leaks or the furnace dies (that one happened to us!)

Thanks <3 My parents actually know a lot so they are helping me too! We're just seeing what might work best based on location, price, etc. It'll be my first time moving out, so I don't mind paying a bit more to try it (since I can move back home) but we're currently looking at what's available to buy.
