-- As you lean in for a closer look, the orca smiles, simply watching as you admire. Your eyes drift down his body - sleek and muscled, yet relaxed in the warm light of the dusk sun. He toes flay slightly, stretching the web between him as your eyes fall upon his foot, and then relax again as he lets you start at his white sole. "I... take it you like them?" comes a deep voice, making you dart your eyes back to his smiling maw. --

I don't know about you... but I'd ask if he likes foot massages. :D
As promised, here's the full-res close up of the Nuuk's footpaw. This was the first bit of the orca that I started fleshing out in detail... 'cause hey, for me, it's the best part! :P The toes went through a number of redraws until I got them to the sort of realistic look that I wanted for this guy. In between his toes is a sort of translucent black webbing which I figure an anthro orca would have.
To get the sole looking right,
CAThulu generously offered a picture of her foot in that position, and that helped immensely with figuring out how to shade in the wrinkles and also how the heel should look. Thanks Cat! So if you haven't seen it already, the full pic of him is the previous post. Enjoy!
Edit (SEP-09-2013): Finally thought of a name for him, Nuuk! So edited information appropriately. :)

Yeah, agreed. I thought about trying that first, but it's a more dynamic pose and a bit harder to pull off realistically. Decided not to ruin what was so far a good drawing by trying. But yeah, the webbing is a sort of black/grey skin that gets semi-translucent in the centre where it's thinnest.

Thank you. ^_^ CAThulu graciously volunteered for a reference for the shape, though technically just for the heel and outer arch since her foot is decidedly more human than an orca's. :P And sneakers? No... more likely to be neoprene surfing and/or kayaking booties. I'm sure you'd still be pleased with the end result. ;)

Eeeeeeeeee - thank you so much! This was SO much work... like, to the point where I haven't done any major art attempts since. XD Trying to get the shading and details right on the sole was tricky, and I couldn't have done it without CAThulu modelling her perfect sole for it. Heh - never thought of it like a bunny paw, but yeah, I suppose if it were furry it'd definitely look like one!
