Ever since Kildras was a young boy, he was taught how to fend for himself in case he ever needed to do so. To say that his skills as a fighter are useful now that he's all grown would be an understatement. They are essential for his survival. His skin is tough enough to take multiple blows , which explains his lack of any real defensive armour.
