Whew... Took a short break yesterday. Things are kinda hectic at home and I needed a rest. So to compensate, I put both words into a sizable-ish story! Enjoy!
As always, any critique or comment is more than welcome!
"Hand me the medium wrench, please"
A short clank of metal against metal sounded in the frigid and sterile laboratory. An aluminum wrench was dropped over a sizable paw. A short stack wolf was handing over tools to a rather corpulent tiger, both dressed in white lab robes which had their names embroidered on them. Adam and Donovan, quite the pair, if I say so myself.
"Sigh, this is the small one, I said medium."
"Tch... that's relative, you know?"
"No, it's not. It's standardized, now give me the medium one, please.
"Hrmph..." Something grunted in dissatisfaction, searching around in the toolbox between them. Amongst screwdrivers, nails, hammers he finally found it, handing it over to the beefy tiger.
"Alright! This seems to be pretty much done, everything's connected, so let me close the panel up and let's give it a good test." The tiger clasped his hands together, looking down at his coworker.
"Should I bring in some of the test pieces? Cubes and cylinders?"
"No, I think we're ready for some organic testing. Did you bring any lunch? Oh, of course you did, bahaha!" Adam laughed heartily, patting the wolf's back with force.
"I'm not gonna give you my lunch, you dunce. I wanna eat something afterward."
"Oh, don't be a kid Donovan, you can always get something later. Now gimme that, is that a sandwich?"
"No, it's an all-meat burrito from La Chingada."
"Should be good enough. We really have to test for organic integrity, and food is complex enough to see if it's not gonna become a weird atomic goop, and well, it's not alive enough to be illegal."
"Urgh..."
"C'mon, it's not like eating more will help you grow up. Not upwards at least. Snrk."
The wolf rolled his eyes. Donovan did poke a lot of fun at his height issues rather often. Thinking on it more carefully, probably anyone would, it just so happened he had to work with him on a daily basis. It's not that he was smaller than Donovan, he was smaller than any other wolf he'd ever met. He wouldn't be playing this war of attrition with the tiger today.
"Fine, here's your test subject. But you'll have to buy me another one later. I know I'm about to hit my gr--"
"Your growth spurt, yeah yeah." The feline received the food piece and put it over a stainless-steel plate underneath the antenna-shaped emitter. "You've been talking about it non-stop for these past two years and the only thing I've seen you grow is that potbelly of yours."
Low blow. Adam scrunched his face in ire, keeping it in check as almost stared a hole into the tiger's nape. One of his hands slowly caressed his bigger-than-average tummy, feeling the doughy fur underneath the lab robe.
"Just start off this damn thing." The canine strutted silently behind the PVC, performing the warmup operations for the ray. Turning it on, adjusting power, setting harmonizers right... Everything ready, he thought, as he sat back on his chair, pondering angrily on Donovan's words.
"Tch... Thinks he's got every right to jerk me around just because he's taller than me..."
The tiger was setting up the testing environment, his tail flicking around excitedly as he put the slow-mo cameras on tripods.
Donovan's bloodshot eyes looked at the testing room, his finger caressing the activation button. Thoughts went back and forth, words, snarky remarks. Why did he have to be so short? Every single wolf was even taller than Adam. He would get his growth spurt soon, yeah. He'd be bigger than all of them. Bigger than Adam. Who does he think he is? That damn tiger. And then it happened, without notice. He snapped.
And his finger slipped.
...
Sight slowly came back to his eyes. Blurry at first, simile to awakening from a rather unceremonious nap, but it didn't take long for Adam to realize something was wrong, very wrong. Suddenly his whole world turned upwards and downwards, as he felt something grabbing his nape and lifting him up, gravity jerking in all sorts of directions. Eventually, everything stopped. And after his sight finally stabilized he saw them.
Donovan's big bright yellow eyes.
"Hey there, tiny."
"Wh... Donovan?"
"Oh, yeah, it seems like the ray activated and you were in the line of fire, you know?"
"What do you... Okay, okay, put me down on some table and we can work something out, this should be reversible."
"Ah, don't fret you, little pip-squeak. I have some other plans." A menacing growl escaped the wolf's mid-section, very audible for the small feline.
"What are you talking about...?" Adam was perplexed, yet slowly grasped the situation. "You... you didn't do this on purpose, did you?"
"Me? Oh no, how could I? I'm much too small to reach the control panel anyways. Or so you seem to think." The sarcasm in the wolf's voice was pretty tangible.
"You piece of shit! Let me down and help me get back to my size! You could've killed me with the ray!" The tiger squirmed in the air, falling around.
"Ahahah! My, you're such a big fighter for such a little pip-squeak!"
"This doesn't make you bigger than me and you know it, you dumbass! You're still the same midget-ass wolf you've always been!
"Thing is, Adam..." Donovan opened his maw menacingly, revealing its drooly interior, a menacing dark abyss from which nothing has ever come back. "That's all relative. And right now, I'm the big bad wolf."
Time seemed to stop for the diminished tiger as the tubby wolf threw him into his gaping maw. The whole scenery flipped around, getting darker and darker as he approached his terrible destiny. He felt as his body crossed the invisible barrier between the alcohol-basked lab air and the canid's fetid breath. With a disgusting splurk he landed near the back of the throat, in front of what he assumed to be his coworker's uvula.
Not long after that, he felt the place moving, darkening, as the rows of teeth closed up, sealing his fate.
Glrk!
Donovan swallowed without toying around. He was always told that playing with food was in bad taste, and he wasn't about to go against his principles now. After pushing the tiger down his throat he felt the minuscule bulge traveling down his neck. With a slight caress, he gave the feline a last goodbye, before it finally disappeared behind his chest. Some seconds later, with a disgusting squelch, Adam was belched into the disgusting digestive pit of the wolf's stomach.
Huurp. Tasty, he thought, as he ogled the burrito that had saved itself from being a test subject. Though it had jumped from the pan onto the fire, as the wolf grabbed it, feeling the squishy movement of the rice and beans inside the tortilla. Adam wouldn't be alone in there for too long.
The whole place was alive. Too alive. Adam was having a terrible time breathing in the caustic miasma of the wolf's insides. He probably would've emptied his own stomach then and there if he had eaten something that day. Disgusting groans and squelches resounded all around him in unison with the wolf's accelerated heart. The walls beat, pulsing as they seeped more acid into the gooey chamber, the greenish liquid pooling at his feet.
"Donovan! Urk... You fucker, let me out!" He pounded as best as he could on the walls. Why though, he wouldn't even be able to give his coworker a stomachache at this size. Mayhaps it was a small escape, anything to avoid thinking of his bleak situation. Rough chewing was heard on top, before pieces of mangled burrito came crashing down on him, throwing him back to the pooled-up juices in the stomach pit. A crass belch reverberated across the chamber as Donovan patted his tummy, rather satisfied.
The wolf was satisfied, he sat back in front of the control panel, detailing some of the experiment's conclusions as he felt his stomach getting to work on his latest meal, gurgling, and bubbling.
"Biomass reduction successful... Biological integrity maintained... Experiment outcome... Success."
Groan...
Donovan rubbed his doughy stomach, helping his coworker set inside of him.
"I'll get that growth spurt soon, you'll see. Especially with your help. Eheheh..."
