1. Even if your hand-drawn airplanes look like crap, tracing a real one will make you feel like crap.
2. Work individual elements of drawings that you like into your own drawings. Don't emulate the style and color of an entire drawing (or travel advertisement) by someone else.

Learn however it is that you learn and don't feel any shame! We all do it. And your work already has its own beautiful, original, enigmatic quality that makes me favorite them again and again. Truly... you should come out with a book, so I have your work collected in one place, and I can show you off to my geeky cartoonist buds. You are one of the most charming people that I don't even know. ^_^

Those particular eyes you draw remind me of a heating element light in my old car, hence the name. I find them to be an endearing way to convey madness or odd mental states.
I learned a lesson, and I know that even this unfinished image will bring some enjoyment to a few sketch-loving folks (you know who you are and I love you) so I it was a successful night. And yes, I shall publish a sketchbook collection someday, even if it is just a few photocopied zines.
