Today, I found them. I found the wind tubes! I’ve been searching for them for so long, and before today only had a long-aged memory of witnessing such a thing when I was very, very young. How long has it even been… thousands of years? I’m not really sure anymore. I keep count of a lot of things but my age isn’t one of them. I only count important things. Nonetheless, I was starting to wonder if the wind tubes even existed at all, or if my memory had fooled me my whole life.
But no! My memory did not fail me. They exist. I saw them. I saw them today! It was absolutely wonderful, and, of course, me being me, the first thing I did when I saw them was fly right into the biggest one I could see. They’re big. They’re loud. They’re so very scary. But my wings are so big and so strong and, well, they’ve never failed me before so why not give it a try? I flew right into it.
And oh wow what a flight it was. It was super intense! Even the rain was super intense. The rain was flying so fast it almost hurt! Almost…. Bah, not even close, but still, it was the hardest rain I’ve ever felt in my entire life. It actually felt, honestly, absolutely amazing, as if I could feel it battering across each and every one of my scales.
And the wind…. Well, where do I even start… just wow! I had to flex and hold all of my wing muscles really hard to even stand a chance. The force of the wind into my wings was so strong I was worried for a moment they may finally fail me this time…. But they did not. They didn’t! I found my composure and my confidence amongst the storm and… and… that was by far the fastest, the FASTEST I have ever flown in my ENTIRE life!
It gets even better. I think I figured it out. I know why the wind tubes were here today and why I haven’t seen any until today. I was scouting out this big storm. The wind was so strong in this one and the clouds were so dark that it blotted out all of the sun. In the center, it was like night time without the sky. The storm being big is not what summoned the wind tubes though. This storm was big and huge, yes, but I have seen many, many big and huge storms without wind tubes.
So here’s what I think actually summoned the wind tubes. I was flying around the storm in broad circles, watching and waiting, waiting and hoping to witness the fabled wind tubes once more. Then I felt a chill. The air got cold and windy. The storm was headed right towards me, towards the cold, chilly air.
Then it happened! The clouds of the storm collided with this cold, windy air and the entire storm started to spin in a big, lazy circle. It got faster. Faster and faster it spun, with rolls of clouds folding on top of each other and forming all kinds of strange, fun shapes to fly in. The clouds got so dark and angry and fast and swirly and there was so much lightning all over the place and then I saw one! There it was, right in front of me, curling and meandering down towards the sea below. A wind tube? Oh!!! Yes it is a wind tube! A nice, big one too! I almost couldn’t believe it.
I just had to do it. I had to fly in it. I couldn’t resist the temptation. What would it feel like? Flying in the wind tube. It felt incredible, like nothing else could even compare to how awesome it felt. I will figure out when, where, and why the wind tubes spawn. I want to do that again so badly. So, so badly. That was such an amazing flight.
