Here is the story on this one.
A pup was born where I work with a severe umbilical hernia. The vets did an unprecedented operation on the pup when she was just 2 DAYS OLD to save her life. She had to stay in an incubator most of the time, but was allowed to nurse on mom with supervision every 2 hours. But before she could go back with mom we had to cover her sutures. A cotton tube normally used for casts had two holes cut in it for her front paws, so when we put it on her it looked like a wife beater t-shirt!
I drew this in the kennel with a dull sharpie and a pilot fine point (I did not have time to vary the line weight like I would have liked to), and stuck it on her incubator. The pup had to have another operation a few weeks later to close a large hole in her diaphragm. She is now about 6 weeks old and is doing quite well. She can't be a service dog because of her defects and will be up for adoption soon as a family pet.

Little "Vi" is doing fine at 6 weeks old. Very strong and great personality, and eats like the labrador she is. However she is not totally free from problems. She has a smaller sternum than normal and a defect in her lower spine. She also has an enlarged heart, all of these problems don't seem to bother her though, and she will hopefully have a normal happy life.
