It's a cold summer night with chilling air and a warm fire. Dalton sniffs the air deeply, taking in the crisp cold with a hint of smoke from the flames emanating directly in front of him. Leaning back slightly into the rugged wooden chair with a book held firmly in his hands. Clasping it carefully around the sides. It's a photo book. With little pieces of memories scattered all over it on every page. Some of them belonging to him. Most, belonging to those before him. He scours the pages one at a time with his eyes focused narrowly, but calmly. He laments on the passage of time this collection of moments reflect. And he ponders ever keenly on the victories and the failures of those who have brought him and the rest of us to this moment. Realizing that was what life is all about. To learn and to improve for those who are with him and for those who will come after him. He sighs with content. Staring into the fire, he see's glimpses of his past and of his future. His mind bouncing with scenarios and imaginings of what's to unfold. He catches himself and is brought back to the present. He rests his eyes and lowers his gaze. Stopping at a picture of him as a pup with his loving family grinning happily. He leans his head back into the chair fully and....smiles.
