Sigil and Lyre (Helluva Boss OCs)
So this one sorta slipped through the cracks. I thought I uploaded it, but I can't find a trace of it in my galleries. Anyway, here it is. Lyre's design has changed since then, as this was a first pass.
I doodled these guys just before the fire happened, back when I was getting on my Helluva Boss kick (As if it ended...). With this pair I was aiming for a buddy cop duo/opposites attract pairing. Sigil was initially meant to be some sort of Earth-born soul who ended up a hellhound in hell, before I found out there was no way for that to work In Vizie's scattershot cannon. (I don't watch the live stream content, just episodes.) Either way, my plan for him was to work as a private eye from the noir era, having died during the great depression. In hell he's still a P.I., but the main focus of his work is to drag souls that somehow managed to evade judgment, or demons who are meddling on earth back to hell. He is shadow employed by another demon who assists in his trips to the living world similar to Stolas. This demon prefers as little direct meddling with the living realm as possible, hence why he has Sigil working as a 'Collector', something Sigil is on board with as despite being deemed a sinner, he still lives by a moral code and has a sense of justice. (I honestly don't know what level of sin gets you into Vizie's version of hell, but considering the overcrowding, I can imagine sins can be as minuscule as not following Christianity, or sex before marriage. In Sigil's case, it was suicide that landed him in hell, constantine style.) His look is supposed to be based on...I'm not even sure how to describe it. There were some phenomenal photos of a red fox with black and deep red fur, so that's what I was emulating. (That was back when I thought Hellhounds covered a spectrum of canine looks, mostly based on the fact that...there was a demon who looked like a Hyena who was incorrectly labeled a Hellhound on the Helluva/Hazbin wiki. It was corrected after I came up with Sigil.)
Lyre is a cherub, obviously. A lamb-based one, tasked with a similar job of helping wayward souls who stayed behind find their way to heaven. Obviously, she's the more tame, moral character of the pair. Easily startled and terrified of hellish abominations. Heaven-born as Cherubs are, I imagine that she has more of a 50's moral sensibility reflecting the era she was created/born in...despite never being on earth. Probably has an Irish accent for...whatever reason. She's very devoted to her work, and earnestly wants to save souls unlike some of her jaded colleagues.
Sigil and Lyre cross paths when the two are basically tasked with collecting two different spirits that are haunting the same location. The one Sigil is sent to capture is a serial killer, who's keen on continuing his spree on earth. While Lyre's soul is one of his victims, doing everything in their power to hold back said killer from harming others. After continually getting on each others nerves and being generally averse to helping each other, they eventually come together to solve both jobs. However, Lyre's agreement to help Lyre, which would save the soul she came to collect, would see her earn a 'forever banishment' from heaven for consorting with demon folk. After chewing a fairly guilty feeling Sigil out for her circumstance, Sigil volunteers himself to provide her with help and resources so she can continue her work on earth unhindered. Thus was the birth of their long-term partnership. (Depending on what happens with "CHERUB" will I guess dictate where Lyre ends up, as I don't know wether they live on earth or were cast to hell...)
That was a rough pass at the idea I had at the time. It's always fun to brainstorm stuff like this. I think Idea crafting is my favorite part of the job.
