I've been thinking a lot lately about how I used to draw in middle school. I started out drawing anime, but soon I began to develop these little anthropomorphic animals. I didn't know what they were at the time, but I guess they were my first steps into the furry world.
You can see by the example on the left that they weren't very detailed or well thought out. That was meant to be a fox. Without the entire body so you could see the tail, it was hard to tell what each species was meant to be.
On the right is how I'd draw it today.
