You know I can appreciate this writing a bit. As much as I want Abe to get with Basil in this story book ending, I really appreciate that these characters are doing things that real life people do all the time. Abe is trying to keep a good thing going with Ruby while at the same time explore these possible feeling he has for Basil.
I relate to Abe so much in the regard of being selfish and trying to milk your brain for every ounce of serotonin you can get. Sometimes that involves having lots of sex to at least feel some kind of positive feeling let alone anything at all. I wonder if Abe has depression or some mental disorder that hasn't been diagnosed.

now this leads me to wonder if this unhealthy devotion would've, in time, been depicted in story.
´cuz as much as i don't consider what's been happening in this scene "happy times," i still wouldn't go so far as to cite any of it as indicative of winters' being obsessed — no.
