Pokemon Obliteration: Char VS Houndoom
Part of the Pokemon Obliteration story:
"After the fall of man and Pokemon trainers by the hands of MewThree, families of Pokemon started to live together in tribes and colonies, surviving on whatever the world that was destroyed has left for them. 50 years later, in the Dragon tribe, a son of a king was born. By law and tradition, the young dragon prince must survive a one on one battle with one of the most deadliest Pokemon left alive, Houndoom. By the age of puberty, the young prince faces the trail that could end his life. Brought up to feel no pain and to stare death in the face with open blue eyes, he stepped into the fire-borader ring where he is met face to face with a Houndoom. With both of their hearts in a burning rage, they lunged forward. The prince came out victorious after a one hour battle, barely with enough strength over to give out a triumphant roar."

parts of it have been done before. The whole dystopia theme is common in sci fi. The son of a ruler having to prove himself is really really common. Pokemon trying to kill each other. I thought of that one myself at one point. As well have many others. But she does put it all together in a way that's flavored her own. I like her choice of Pokemon. Many people seem to overlook Houndoom for some reason. I think he's great.
I know what you mean. Look how big Arcanine was to Gary. What if he just went berserk and turned on him one day? Think a kid could hold that off? Realistically Pokemon would potentially be as wild as wild animals of the real world if not far more dangerous. Even if Arcnanine didn't have fire powers he could tear you apart like any tiger or bear.
