Isabelle is heading to the beach with my favorite villager, Kiki! And they're wearing matching suits too.
My first Animal Crossing game was New Leaf. About a week after starting, a new villager suddenly moved in. You can probably guess who that is. I basically much fell for Kiki right then and there. She's so adorable, and her personality type is great too. Sadly, I haven't found her yet in New Horizons. I hope I did Kiki justice with this image. Also, I chose to give Isabelle green eyes. I think it suits her.
I tried a few different things with the shading, and I'm pleased with the outcome. I learned that you don't always need really bright highlights on objects. But for some things like the girls, it's not a bad idea because it helps them stand out from the background. One of the most challenging parts was their swimsuits. I added more stitching detail to them, like what I did on the feisty fox girl. The lineart wasn't too bad. The shading was trickier though. Photo refs show that one piece swimsuits really tend to smooth out the body and show less detail. But I enjoy painting or drawing the figure and showing more detail. So I went with something in between. The suits smooth out the anatomy a bit, but the body underneath is still legible. I think they turned out pretty well.
I think I might have over rendered the girls a little though. But you gotta paint more to understand those kinds of flaws in your work.
Overall, I'm really pleased with just how cute the girls turned out. And I hope you enjoy them too!
