Funny how people are so quick to forget or ignore the obvious logic that if someone's got something you have to take from a dragon that if they took it from the dragon it belonged to it is NOT easier taking it from them than taking it from the dragon.

But maybe she bought it and the real tough guy who got it from a dragon is elsewhere!

Well that's the risk/loss calculation going on like you see with your average criminal. They figure the risk of someone being home that might kill them for robbing it is low enough that the reward of robbing the place is worth it. So like here they're hoping that she isn't the one that acquired it and someone that they could take rather than someone who could slay a dragon and therefor them fairly quickly.

Watching long dialog would even give me the munchies.
