I need another project like I need a whole in my head, but I've been thinking about this for MONTHS AND MONTHS.
See, I have a Battlestar Galactica character in an RPG named Evalyn "Tarot" Perry. She is (or was) a Viper pilot, and she's psychic. Her primary form of divination is Tarot cards. Throughout the course of the game I've kept a notebook of the Major Arcana of the Tarot, their meanings, and what I feel the BSG equivalent would be called based on the meaning of the card. Of course I've been wanting to draw the deck for a long time now.
This is card number 01, The Fool. It's based on the myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun with his wax and feather wings. I figured that if anyone in Greek mythology (that I know of) fits the definition of the card.
For this series (because I am *hoping* to draw the rest of these) I'm going to try to combine traditional Tarot symbolism with Greek mythology and a heavy dose of the Battlestar Galactica mythos. The art is inspired from the God and Goddess Statues in the show, as well as from ancient Greek art. This will NOT be a series of cards based ON the show itself, but rather on the religion IN the show (and heavily on the Scrolls of Pythia, of course).
#2 of what will hopefully be a 21 image series
