Commissioned 9"x12" triptych for 
of her character Elijah in an Arabian setting. The room was referenced from a couple of photos provided to me from Google, as was the hookah (since I had no idea what one looked like off the top of my head), and I have to say this one was quite an adventure to color. I got to bring out my pinks and oranges, which I don't often get to do, and while I was working on it I had the Bellydance channel on Pandora playing, so the mood was quite fitting. ^_^

Oof, I'm glad you like it, it felt like it took forever. lol I did have a lot of fun though, and the whole time I was thinking "I hope she likes this, I hope I didn't screw something up" lol The hookah and the little objects on the table were fun to draw though. ^_^

Hookahs are such wonderful little contraptions. Back before so many cities around the state started cracking down on public smoking, there was an Indian restaurant I went to a time or two where the people who owned the place would occasionally sit at a table and smoke a hookah. Even though I don't smoke, it actually looked like it would be kind of fun to use one.
Anyway, I really love how you're doing these triptych pieces, and how much detail and background they let you show around the characters. The two little side panels just add so much to the richness and luxury of her surroundings, and I love the two little lanterns hanging on either side of her. And the heart-shaped smoke-ring is just the most adorable little thing!

There was a hookah bar that Theron went to a few times in Phoenix...I never went myself, since I don't smoke and I'm not a fan of bars of any sort, but he told me they had bellydancers there.
Actually, I sort of picture Luthien as working at a place like that, only its more of a restaurant/club/bar all in one, with lots of dancers and live entertainment on stage for the customers while they eat. =)It has a very Indian/Morrocan feel to it as well...another place I have pictured clearly in my head, just haven't put it on paper yet.
