I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'm so glad synthwave/retrowave (or whatever you want to call it) is a thing. While it'd be nice to hear some retrowave on the radio someday maybe it's for the best that it stays semi-underground because we all know what the music industry does to anything good... it ruins it. I can't stand anything modern they play on the radio it's all just trash; country isn't country anymore, rock is obnoxious, pop is super generic and awful.
Also if you're wondering who this character is, she's an old forgotten character named Leah (she was also named Leigh) I made a flat color scrap drawing of her a few months ago but before that she hasn't been seen since my very first sketches in late 2015.

That could probably fit in the genre somewhere although I'd just consider it more along the lines of Electronic Dance/House music (the TR909 drums in that specific rhythm is fairly typical of that genre) but I guess that depends on when it was made and how people classify 'retrowave' music.
For me it takes about 25+ years of being off the air (or in other words before I was born) to be of interest, I don't think I've had any radio music from the last 5-10 years grow on me. Heck most of it I've heard at least on the pop "todays hits" stations all sound nearly identical to me. Just have some person playing two notes on a piano over and over *bong... bong... bong* to a slow tempo and some guy with a high-ish delicate voice and boom! Instant hit. Bleh.
