In Shazza's culture, wearing a plain black choker is an optional symbol of being in a relationship. Here, Avner is placing such a choker on Marelda. Thus making it official that he, Shazza, and Marelda are now in a closed polygamous relationship, which although rare in Shazza's culture, it is acceptable if everyone in the relationship consents to it. This is something that Avner will have to get used to since he was raised in a culture where only monogamy was practiced.
After a long time of deciding how to go about this, I decided that it was time to make this official. Avner loves both of them, and Shazza and Marelda are real close friends. And they both love Avner. They'll all be happy together.
