Everyone likes the "fish out of water" dynamic. Until they're the fish, that is...
You don't really go out too much. And when you do it's usually just for small functions that your friends might be hosting. And you definitely don't stay out past midnight. Those are your personal hours!
Well, not tonight. Your friends have managed to drag you out to a club this evening. You usually wouldn't but things have been turbulent recently, making hanging out with your friends pretty scarce so you took the opportunity. Sadly, that was not the play.
You managed to lose track of your friends almost as soon as you hit the door. On top of that you've never been here before. You don't know anyone here, what kind of songs they play, hell, you don't even know where the bathroom is. You're trying to take it in strides, but you have to admit the night is looking rather sour.
You eventually stumble across the bar, but you're not really looking for a drink. You really just wanted to see if your friends ended up stationing here, but it would appear that is not the case. You do decide to grab a seat though, and proceed to turn your attention towards the dance floor. The mass of bodies move to the beat (well, the ones with rhythm at least) in many different forms and styles as the teal lights bathe the room. Creating a show of chaos controlled by the patterns pounding the ears of you and your peers.
Distracted by the display, you almost missed the fennec fox sauntering up to you until they were right in front of your face. Their bright blue tank top drapes over their form and stops right above the bottom of their ribcage. There was no mistake about it, their path was directed straight for you. The warm brown fennec walked with comfortable confidence, as if they were at home. They notice your eyes on them and smile as they reach the seat next to you. That being said, they make no motion to sit down. Instead they let their fingers graze over the bar counter until they stood right before you and leaned into a comfortable stance. They waste no time getting to talking.
"Aaerios, he/him." they open.
You exchange your name and pronouns.
"I don't recognize your face. New here?"
You confirm that, in fact, you are.
"Thought so" he adds, "Well it'd be a shame to spend your first time here by your lonesome."
You inform him that you weren't alone upon arrival.
His expression shifts into one that says "Yikes." but what he ends up saying, in a joking manner is, "Hmmm, well that sounds like a night on a downwards spiral."
You scoff in humor at his comment.
"Can I get you a drink?"
You politely decline his offer before asking how often he hangs around here.
"Oh you'll almost alway-"
He stops his sentence short as his head snaps towards the floor. His ears twitch as the song ends and another begins. After not the first 6 notes he turns back towards and his energy his almost palpable. There's a sparkle in yellow eyes-no just a spark-or... both?
"Ohhh, this is one of my favorites!" He paused for a moment in thought before offering a hand in your direction.
"Care to dance~?"
You're about to decline because you do not dance. Not unless you count that little sway you do in your chair every now and then. But, you can already see Aaerios's tail bouncing in time as he wait for your response. He's so excited to get on the floor you just can't help but bandwagon on that feeling. You say yes and take his hand, despite your aforementioned lack of experience.
Aaerios guides you to the floor and then the nerves start to rattle you. He notices your unease.
"Relax, just follow my lead, alright?"
The measures of the music feel drawn out before the music really kicks in. But boy, does it kick. It doesn't take long for you to realize Aaerios is way out of your league in this. If you didn't know any better, you'd say the music was finding sounds to match his moves rather than the other way around. His movements are sharp, precise, and fluid. The moves showcase magnificent musicality. He did say it was one of his favorites.
You're wholly convinced you can't keep up with neither this song or your dance partner, but, again, his energy is conductive. Making it easier to get lost in the music. As you continue to try your best, you find yourself loosening up and having a fun time. The night might be looking up...
