No, that was not a strange otherworldly typo in the title. However, it is a strange, otherworldly creature!!
Have you heard of devil rays?
Well, The Ixitxachitl (ik-ZIT-za-chit-ul) is a demon ray! Except unlike devil rays which just look like devils thanks to their horns, the Ixitxachitl is actually a demon!
When you are the servant of an ancient and powerful being, otherplanar visitors are hardly a surprise. Hvölga's kraken patron has connections, alliances, and enemies from all over, including the Abyss itself apparently! And on this day, the kraken was asked by a demon lord to take this Ixitxachitl and use it to scout out the waters and shores surrounding its vast territory.
However, the kraken couldn't be bothered with such a lengthy and trivial task, so it called upon Hvölga to do the task for it. Hvölga was initially unenthusiastic but compliant. However, as she started escorting this demon ray, she grew quite a liking for it! The little rascal was always trying to cause chaos for chaos' sake. It would chase schools of fish around, spook crustaceans hiding under rocks and coral, and disrupt all sorts of undersea activities.
Hvölga loved watching this little demon go, and even would help it out from time to time with some eldritch magic of her own! The mischief delighted her big heart, and she ended up thoroughly enjoying her travels with this crazy little ray!
Alright flavor aside this was actually a freaking WONDERFUL gift by
Captein !!! Just threw it at me by surprise one day, and although I'm criminally late in sharing it, I absolutely love it.
I must admit, this definitely wasn't intended to be an Ixitxachitl when Eien drew it, but when she said the ray could be anything I wanted it to be, I declared it an Ixitxachitl! Because, come on, say Ixitxachitl again. Ixitxachitl. Ixitxachitl! Amazing name for a creature hahhh!!
But anyways, thanks again Captein sooooo so much! You're awesome!!!!
