Hold on girls, there is only maybe a thousand more of these things are coming down the tunnel.
Yeah, they can get by on rocks, but real food is so much better, and there are still a few unbonded unicorns around.
I mentioned it a bit in an earlier post, from way back during the first season, (( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/5330598/ )) That something I love about Equestria is that it turned out to be every bit as varied, and dangerous a place to adventure in as Eternia, Third Earth, Mongo, or Oz ever was. I tuned into the show in the first place just to see how well they were doing the flash animation, and check out some of the character designs. The first ep I see is the six questing to deal with a dragon that is threatening their little town. Honestly that was probably the last thing I expected to see.
The place is filled with civilizations of gryphons, dragons, hippogriffs, and changelings that all, yeah, have some basic trope motivations but a lot that can be built upon. Any of these could be pillaged by sky pirates, menaced by ethereal dark forces, screwed with by chaos gods, manipulated by sorcery of all kinds, or beset by monsters. And there were plenty of monsters. Sea Serpents, manticores, hydras, rocs, sphinx, gigantic bears made from stars, chicken-snakes that can turn you to stone just by looking at you, or even flying tribbles. It even has Greek hell complete with Cerberus. Show runners knew their mythology, there was a whole lot of stuff I had to look up. Certainly, it was geared towards a younger audience, and that was just fine, but there is a lot of really dangerous stuff here if you turn the dial up just a bit.

I found the memes first and had friends say to check it out. It was OK, though seeing most characters having their own personal breakdowns was something.
But yeah, the world building was what really has me interested too. Aside from the complexity, there were extending consequences of actions too. There was some evolution to things, which gave actions more weight. And there were a LOT of dangers out there from a broad variety of things. Heck some of the dangers could be in the house with you on in your dreams too,
There were/are a lot of hooks to work with which can make it a fun tool for works or imagine what can exists within the rules of the world.
I'd joke about them borrowing from D&D for a lot of stuff, but they also literally wrote a D&D game into the show, so I'd say its safe someone writing for them played. :)

The short answer that either Earth or Pegasi would treat them the same way most everything else is when they run into them. Which could be summed up a lot as: 'What the heck are you?'. But, since this world has a lot of crazy stuff anyway it wouldn't be to much a stretch that they'd get used to it. I haven't settled on how to work the other pony types into this yet. There are probably some perfectly fine relationships between individuals, but as civilizations all the groups kinda keep to themselves and their regions. While, I would imagine the collapse of a kingdom would be noticed. The unicorns as a whole have a reputation as being fairly aloof, and the dwarf dragons as trouble. And since something seems after the unicorns no one is exactly in a hurry to take in refugees, or go poking about what happened to them.
I've played out how some things could go, but nothing serious and nothing I'm sure is interesting enough to actually draw out.
But bringing some of the tribes together could be a plot thread for a while though.

I'll probably still poke at things, and share ideas, but like I said in the journal post this summer when I worked up roughly how much actual work this would be, I realized it's just way more than I'm willing to do. But developing it is still a fun exercise.
The speed of drawing is just such a limiting factor.
