Original Species: Pummelhorn
The Pummelhorn is a species of flightless, terrestrial gryphon native to the continent of Arcadia. They are by far the most common herbivore within the 3-5 ton weight class. These beasts travel through the open grasslands in small herds in search of edible plants.
Their thick, feathery manes provide good protection against most predators, though the largest ones still have an easy time taking them down.
Towards the end of every dry season, they gather in larger groups in order to lay eggs and collectively guard them against nest raiders. They choose the end of the dry season to brood so that the chicks hatch at the exact moment when there is plenty of fresh greenery all around them.
