Collecting money to buy other magical items or artifacts to gain power from them. Ofcourse, being a demon, he had to be more sneaky and thoughtful about this, using alleyways and perhaps the black market to sell these.
It would be a problem if the local church would have found out that a demon was offering such services among the people.
