Well, considering how much damage a small bird can cause when it gets sucked into a jet engine, I'm pretty sure a drone will cause considerably more damage.

"Slow it down"? Either everything is working right on a helicopter, or it's crashing. Which you don't want to do if there's a hostage on board.

Sorry but, a helicopter does not drop from the sky like a stone after its engine stops, there is a thing called autorotation.
The helicopter seems either a chinook helicopter or based on this cargo helicopter so it should be able to fly on with only one engine that powers both rotors.
As long as it does not lose its rotors but only its engines it should be able to make an emergency landing by autorotation. :)

But, okay, I love your story and can't wait for the next part. :)
