"Threat, 200 meters, 12 oclock!"
"Engaging."
Several rifle shots, mostly .308s from the dragons bushmaster and the jogaunis sniper rifle cracked out. The sniper rifle failed to hit, as well as the faster assault rifle.
"No hits, why am I not hitting?"
"I knew I should have zeroed the new scope...."
The jogauni had swapped the 3x9 on the sniper to a longer mil-dot reticle, and was paying for his insolence to the gun-gods. The dragon (seen right) had a loose bolt on his scope rings, but didn't know it.
"Fuck this. Close distance and engage."
"Copy."
The jog swapped the sniper for a smaller caliber assault rifle, and the pair sprinted downrange. First, 100 meters away, and while the shots were hitting the blue hide of the hostile alien, none of the rounds were hitting the tiny, quarter sized explosive nerve case on its chest. Then, 50 meters. The canine rifle barked, spraying 5.56 rounds in an accurate hail of fire, completely suppressing the alien. The explosion as the dragons heavier round ripped through the nerve case was shrugged off by their advanced hearing protection, and a fist sized hole was blown in the monster.
"Kill, thats a kill. You got him."
Please note the use of explosives on targets is recommended for professionals only, and fire and move ranges should be done on closed courses. All weapons should be properly zeroed before ranges, not "good enough" into a berm, and dragons should not install cheapass Barska scopes on expensive bushmaster assault rifles.
