I recently bumped into Brooke's former owner at a local coffee shop--I mentioned the BD sticker he had on his laptop, and we wound up chatting for a while. Eventually conversation turned to characters, and after showing him my characters and their art he showed me a few pieces he had left of a character of his. He mentioned he'd basically had to drop all furry stuff for a variety of personal reasons, and offered to give me the art he had of her if I wanted to give her a new home. I couldn't really say no to that offer so... here we are!
Now I've got even more world building work to do! I've managed to put together a small into blurb for the new setting (called Cinder City) I'm writing up that she'll exist in, since superheros don't necessarily fit into either of my other settings. That brief setting introduction is below, but as I eventually get more art of her I'll likely add more, and will be doing some writing and fleshing out of her setting along with the others as well.
Once a thriving yet unremarkable metropolis, Cinder City has become the focal point of a rather unexpected phenomenon: random citizens developed supernatural powers and abilities seemingly overnight. It began with news reports of a robbery by an "invisible man", and before long reports of other incidents involving super-powered thieves began to surface. Only a few days later the news ran a story about the city's first apparent hero: an electricity-wielding rabbit girl who just so happened to stumble upon and stop a robbery being perpetrated by shadowy, tentacle summoning horse. Sure, she might have caused a localized blackout in the process... but she'd also stopped the would-be robber! A security camera not tied to the grid just barely managed to capture an image of her, lightning arcing from outstretched fingertips toward the blur attempting to ensnare her, moments before being overwhelmed by electrical interference. The news anchor gave her a name on the spot: Capacitor.
How many others were out there? What caused them to develop superpowers as if at random? The citizens of Cinder City had so many questions, yet there were so few answers to be found...
