Are those hyperbits?

As in hypercubes or hypertophy? Not intentionally. It is a ten-year-old pencil sketch with some partially erased lines. I had planed of inking and coloring it some day.

Ah. I see it now. I guess I could have left it and hoped that the controversy rocketed me to fame, but I decided to adjust things and re-upload. After you explained it too me, I could see it that way too. (It would be about as long as Skippy's spine. That would put in on the midrange for hypertrophied furs. Relative to body size, it would be longer than most of Doug Winger's characters... and on a cub! Definitely not intentional.)

Thanks for pointing it out. If it didn't get noticed and fixed in the pencil sketch, it would have eventually been noticed in the final - and been much harder to fix.
