Made from marble and magic, brought to life by time and the affection of its mistress, the Bernini statue wakes each night to protect the grounds of its Lady's castle. It is the first of her collection, her most favored.
The Lady is always waiting for the Bernini at the start of its patrol. Even when she has passed from the world and it can no longer follow her.
A rather large piece made after I had the idea of drawing Annadette with her favorite Bernini statue, Maligo. The Bernini were something Spade and I thought up a few years back that are guard statues that gain sentience after a hundred years or so. Maligo and the rest of his ilk were given as gifts to the countess by their creator. They continue to patrol and protect her castle even long after her death. Many can be seen standing guard at her grave.
The Bernini are named after Gian Lorenzo Bernini, an Italian sculptor who made fascinating pieces.
