I must admit that today was a waste of time. The last place, the one at the edge of the forest, is indeed what I thought it was. An old camp that had been left behind by the mercenary, but to my great disappointment. There was nothing interesting in the camp and by nothing I mean literally nothing. The only things that were still there were two tents, an old campfire with a rusted cauldron and a tarp that had been tied to several trees so they could have a common shelter. Other than those useless thing, There was absolutely nothing else. No tools, no sleeping bags in the tents or outside. No trace of moldy food or containers to carry them. Not even a table or benches made from logs! The kind of thing I would have thought to find here. Especially with the bodies still present in the village. They weren’t recovered after all, but someone still took the time to empty the camp of everything that was useful, except the tents, but on another side. With two less people. I guess it was less useful and heavy for nothing.
Did they leave quickly because they had finished their mission and decided to leave without burying their companion? Too eager to go and get their winnings. I understand not to bring them to the nearest city. Carrying bodies over several days through the woods is quite a job, but it’s still little consideration for their companion to leave them to rot in the sun. On the other hand, it doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen this many times. After all, there is no honor among thieves and those who stay behind. Are left behind.
But to get back to the camp, I would have so much liked to find a book, a note or that the camp was in better condition. Anything to answer why they were here. Because now, it look like every other old abandonned camp. I’m still in the dark in all of this... The only thing of intesrest remaning on the map is the temple. They did put a “No go” on it, but maybe it was to discourage that one particulare mercenary to go, after all It is in a formadible stade despite everything, so the only reason to not go there would be danger. Probably trap, it’s always trap, but they don’t scare me. I have seen my good share of them, and with the possibilité of unlooted temple, I can’t simpely pass by without taking a quick look!
Besides, as I write this. I’m thinking about it. The camp has two tents for two bodies, but the tents are not the same. One is better made than the second one which is more like the ones I use myself. This kind of equipment costs more than a long canvas and three branches taken in the forest. Its owner must have had better means than the other one. I guess it could be the blue jay because of his equipment. Also, the last time I saw a tent like this was when I led a small troop of soldiers through the mountains of Utherfor. Their captain had a tent of the same style, so this blue jay was indeed important to the mercenary.
But with that write, It’s time so go back to my own camp and rest a bit. It was a long day after all.
