Here we have the first attempt at getting my kobold character out of my head! You can think of this as the rough draft just so I had something to build off of for future comms instead of just straight up describing it to people. Proper ref-sheet incoming!

Basic Backstory Questions:
1. Where was your character born? (This affects culture, or maybe base stats.)
2. What skills did your character learn growing up? (wood working, arcana, cooking, religion)
3. List living family/mentor names: (Even Batman had Alfred and Robin)
4. Why is your character an adventurer? (Their drive, what they want after the adventure is over, Revenge, Gold, Approval, knowledge.)
5. What does your character fear the most? (Physical fears: Spiders, clowns, heights. Nebulas fears: Being alone, becoming a monster/evil, someone dying near you.)

1. If you are asking for a specific location I haven't ironed that out. I tend to RP a bunch so it varies setting-by-setting. Broadly speaking he was born in your typical kobold warren but devoid of a draconic ruler at the time of his hatching.
2. Per kobold belief on reincarnation when someone special dies the next laid egg is their reincarnation. Zavli happened to have been laid just after the then-leader of his group passed and so he was snatched up and groomed to take his past-life's place. Leadership, management, etc. In short Zavli is much more used to giving orders than taking them!
3. Full honesty I hadn't thought about names overmuch since strictly speaking kobolds do the 'communal raising' thing where everybody cares for the younglings. The closest thing he has to a 'true' mentor would be the life the previous Zavli left behind.
4. Self-imposed banishment. He was taught and told to lead, a role he learned to desire, but around the time he was coming of age a dragon had stumbled upon his group and taken it upon himself to dominate them. This left Zavli sore, shamed, and just generally frustrated. He would never lead, not really, at best he'd be the dragon's second. At worst the dragon would select someone else for the job. Disillusioned he opted to leave his group to their fates as they openly worshiped the dragon where he felt only spite for dragonkind.
5. Losing control. The idea that he's not in charge of a given situation or in some sort of control shakes him up. Whether it be his allies readying to leave him behind, their inevitable deaths depriving him of 'subjects', and just all in all being put beneath someone as their lesser.

Oh, certainly he has a good charisma with some dex due to being a kobold. As far as class-choice goes he's more likely to be a Mastermind Rogue since it comes packaged with abilities that would help him in barking orders at people. The help action being extended is really good for the flavor of him going "Hey! Hit that thing!" and just being bossy but at least being helpful doing it.
Alternatively it'd just be a 3 level dip into rogue for that ability and then into RANGER. Surprising, that, right? That's because Drakewarden is on the horizon. Besides really liking the mental image of a kobold riding a drake it's easily flavorable toward Kurtulmak; the patron deity of kobolds. He is fabled to have stolen sorcery from the dragon deities and gifted them to kobolds which is why there is so many sorcerer kobolds. Zavli, being anti-dragon in sentiment, would reasonably attempt to steal magic from dragons which would manifest in Drakewarden abilities.
