UPDATE! There is now an English dub of this short. Shoko's name was changed to Hilary in it. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qZU-WIzq68
A few days ago, a POKETOONS episode came out, telling the story of a little girl that gets turned into a gengar. If you're one of the people that haven't yet witnessed this AMAZING animation, you can (and should) check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vXdJ8-LZdY (Seriously, it's absolutely one of the most amazing Pokemon-related things I've seen in years. ;w; )
Anyway, toward the end, Shoko changes back into a human and her friends lose memory of the event. (It's somewhat ambiguous about whether she herself remembers.) However, before they leave, Shoko promises her new ghostly pals that she will see them later.
I have no idea if they will ever do an official follow-up to this since it was just a silly one-off cartoon, but the optimistic ambiguity of the ending makes it that much better for me in some ways, because it gets the creative juices flowing in my mind!
My interpretation is that eventually, Shoko does come back to them. Either out of curiosity of what had happened, or because she misses them and wants to return. And maybe, just maybe, from that point on, they spend some late nights together having some haunted fun again.
Best of both worlds. <3

This was a SUPREMELY challenging picture to do. Capturing the lighting, the color temperature, and the visual style definitely took a few tries before I was satisfied.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little bit of fanart. I was so driven and inspired by the sheer fun of this animation that I had to do it.
Up next, I'll be returning to the Moonlight Angel comic... though perhaps not in quite the way you might expect~. Stay tuned!
