The wereboars must be the forgotten childs of the werecreatures kingdoms.
Not enough gruff or as dignified as the raging werebear, nor as iconic as the werewolf or as shamelessly smittable as the wererats hordes or as.... well, "appealing"(*cough*) like the weretigers.
It's "just a pig".
Granted, I guess that lack of "glamour" it has compared to it's other part-times furcoats-bearing colleages might actually make it a good punishment to throw at players' way.
I can only imagine the hissy fit players of the Xth "scantily clad elven wizardess amongst thousands of others" would throw if their character was to be infected by what might be seen as the unsexiest of weres*.
*note this is only my mild amusement, due to haviing once played with players who would easily be prone to such "character sheets-tearing" fits once something displeased them.
