There are no therapists in a fantasy or vaguely-medieval world, so what happens when someone who really needs one is transported there?
There is a lot of subtext in this chapter closing this Avarice Mini-Arc that meshes with my own life, my own struggles with depression. A lot of stories either force the narrative to focus entirely on this aspect of the character's personality, or have it get magically cured so it doesn't bog the story down.
Rex's battle with depression will be a relatively constant thing, there may be times he seems completely recovered, there may be times, like right now, that he struggles to press on.
Alone, these battles will be the hardest he will face, so it's a good thing he has a good support base.
In this reality we live in, if you do suffer from depression or struggle with thoughts of suicide, I urge you to seek out professional help, whether it's through seeing a therapist or making use of a dedicated call center or chat room like Imalive.org. There is absolutely no shame in asking for help, it's how we as a species have survived this long.
