For those of you who commented on how careful the character in one of my earlier 1900s-fashion pics would be forced to hold her tail just 'so' to avoid disturbing its decorations, check out Danielle's tailset in panel 3. She's not working too hard to keep it that way, though; her dress is made to keep it in one place.

I like that you take the trouble to think of those kinds of technical details. But that is where so much of the fun is, isn't it? I know when I write, thinking about how being nonhuman changes everyday life is a huge challenge. And it disappoints me when a furry character is just a human in a fuzzy coat.
You never disappoint like that.

Aw, thanks!
It's a hard line to draw---on one hand, as this story develops, the characters' multispecies culture and non-human biology have become crucial to the plot, and it's very nice to hear that I'm communicating that.
On the other hand, you know that people with fur would never have evolved Victorian style. A corset would ruin fur, 'nuff said. I think the audience tends to tacitly ignore those issues in a lot of anthro art, though, so I let it slide long enough to create these things.

One of the things that delights me about these Hazel/Danielle pages is the contrast between the two characters' expressive styles: Danielle's huge range of facial expression, versus Hazel's unchanging detached reserve. I can almost hear their voices as they speak, their tone and cadence is so plain in the way they look.
Also the collar of Danielle's dress. Love that, too.

Awesome; I'm really glad you're enjoying that. Hazyl is a bit of a challenge, because she doesn't lose the detached reserve often, but there are still subtle expressions going on. Glad you like the dresses; the second panel is one of my favorites in the comic so far!
Heh...I will begin posting the comic again very soon! It's actually in rough inks to the end of book 1, and there are 5 finished pages I need to scan. Rest assured that I am almost always working on some element of the book, but it isn't always visible and sometimes the rest of my life eats my brain. :)
