If you haven't read "Hannibal," you most certainly should, I assure you. Sure, this dude eats brains, but you really have to appreciate the sheer genius he exhibits... The ability to strip your personality and pinpoint each and every soft spot you don't want him to find... Yeah, he's glorious--and extremely misunderstood. ^_^
Then again, most geniuses are.

I entirely agree. Even those who don't like him can't help but be fascinated with him. And Thomas Harris made Hannibal so, so REAL; I occasionally forget that he's a fictional character, actually.
Like you said, Hannibal is a character who really "clicked" in my head (both our heads, I suppose). There's so much to him--it's really amazing.
